Dealing with damaged products
The Hopstack Warehouse Management System (WMS) provides a simple and intuitive method to manage products received as damaged. This article will guide you through the steps necessary to process these products accordingly.
Step 1: Set the Condition of the Goods
Upon receiving goods, you will have the option to set the condition of these goods. If any items are received as damaged, you can select the appropriate condition. Anything other than 'Good' can be chosen for damaged goods. Once this is done, the damaged goods will not be available for putaway.

Step 2: View the Stock Ledger
Navigate to the Stock Ledger screen in the system. Here, you can search for the affected SKU(s). You will find a column labeled 'Damaged' which shows the quantity you marked as damaged during receiving.

Step 3: Review Damaged Quantity
Click on the quantity in the 'Damaged' column. This action will show you a list of all the damaged instances along with an 'Action' button.

Step 4: Choose an Action
By clicking on the 'Action' button, you will have two options and a text field for entering the quantity. Please type in the quantity of items for which an action needs to be taken and in the reason, choose one of the following options:
Add to Inventory: If you believe the products are still sellable, you can choose to add these items to the inventory so they can be used to fulfill orders. This indicates that despite the initial damage assessment, the items are in a condition that is acceptable for sale. Please note, in the resultant text field, you will be asked to specify the bin location/storage location into which these items need to be added.
Discard: If the items are unsalvageable, you can choose to discard them. This will remove the damaged products from your system entirely. Please note, there will be no transaction for removal, no outbound order, no other event. It essentially deletes it from the system, and therefore, this function should be used sparingly and cautiously.
Once done, please click on Submit and confirm your adjustment activity. Once done, the chosen action Remember, managing damaged goods efficiently can prevent loss of inventory and help maintain accurate stock levels in your warehouse.
