Allocating and re-allocating inventory to different sales channels

Channel Allocation

Channel Allocation in the Hopstack platform enables users to transfer inventory between different SKUs, catering to scenarios where products are sold on various platforms, such as Amazon, Shopify, eBay, etc…

One can also list Client A’s product to a common sales channel of the warehouse. It is possible to do cross-client listing or common sales channel listing, Meaning multiple clients can fulfill through one common sales channel between them.
Please make sure users have access to multiple clients if they are linking one client’s product with another client’s sales channel.

Currently (release: April 24-I), cross-client or common sales channel listing does not allow references to channel allocation in reports and exports. Please get in touch with Hopstack support to have those reports.

  1. Navigate to the Allocate Channel Feature: Access this function in the platform to begin the process of transferring inventory. Select source client, channel, and SKU.

  1. Select destination client and channel: Choose the client and channel from which you want to transfer inventory to

  1. Select Destination SKU: Choose the SKU to which you want to transfer inventory. This SKU can be associated with a different channel, such as Amazon, Shopify, etc.

  1. Input Quantity: Enter the number of units you wish to transfer from the source SKU to the destination SKU.

  2. Submit: Confirm and submit the transfer. The inventory will be moved from the source SKU to the destination SKU.

Blind Receiving (Deprecated feature, due to lot of real-world reconciliation errors)

Blind receiving caters to scenarios where inventory arrives without prior detailed information. In such cases, it’s essential to have a process in place to manage and track these products.

  1. Create a Placeholder SKU: If detailed product information is not available, create a placeholder SKU in Hopstack with minimal information.

  2. Navigate to Consignments: Go to the consignments section to start the receiving process.

  3. Create a Consignment: Input necessary details for the consignment, ensuring to select the placeholder SKU for the products being received.

  4. Receive Inventory: Input the quantity of inventory being received and submit the details. Ensure to mark the status from ‘unprocessed’ to ‘completed’.

  5. Transfer Inventory: Use the channel allocation feature to transfer the inventory from the placeholder SKU to the respective integration SKU when it is ready.

Limitations

  1. Accuracy: Without complete product information, maintaining inventory accuracy can be challenging.

  2. Dependency on Placeholder SKU: The process necessitates the creation of a placeholder SKU, which might not always be fully representative of the product.

  3. Manual Intervention: The process requires manual input, especially when transferring inventory between SKUs, which might be prone to errors.
