Adding, editing and deleting user roles
This help document provides step-by-step instructions on how to manage roles within the Hopstack platform.
Creating a New Role
To create a new role in the Hopstack platform, follow these steps:
Navigate to Setup: Begin by logging into the Hopstack platform and navigating to the 'Setup' section on the main menu.
Access User Management: Within the Setup section, find and select the 'User Management' module.
Go to Roles Section: In the User Management module, locate and click on the 'Roles' section.
Create New Role:
Click on the 'New Role' button. This will open a form to define a new role.
Name the Role: Enter a name for the role in the designated field.
Set Permissions: Configure the permissions for the role. You can assign the following types of permissions to various modules:
Readable: Allows users with this role to view and access specific modules.
Writable: Allows users with this role to modify, add, or delete content within the modules.
Submit: After setting up the name and permissions, click on the 'Submit' button to create the new role.
Editing an Existing Role
To edit an existing role's permissions or details:
Navigate to Roles Section: Follow the initial steps to access the Roles section within the User Management module as described above.
Locate Role: Find the role you wish to edit in the list of roles.
Access Role Settings:
Click on the three-dot action button next to the role you want to edit.
Select 'Role Permissions' from the dropdown menu.
Edit Permissions:
Make the necessary changes to the role’s permissions or other settings as required.
Submit Changes: Once all modifications are made, click on the 'Submit' button to save the changes.
Deleting a Role
To delete a role from the Hopstack platform:
Navigate to Roles Section: Ensure you are in the Roles section as previously outlined.
Select Role to Delete:
Identify the role you wish to delete.
Click on the three-dot action button next to the role.
Select 'Delete Role' from the dropdown menu.
Confirm Deletion: A prompt will appear to confirm the deletion of the role.
Complete Deletion: After confirming that the role can be deleted, proceed to remove the role by confirming the action in the prompt.
Please note that roles assigned to active users cannot be deleted. If the role is in use, ensure no active users are assigned to this role before attempting deletion
